This year’s Peter Howell Memorial Double Enduro will consist of two 90KM (approximately) Enduro Races run in the Maramarua Forest run on a lap consisting 80% of gravel and 20% clay. 

Programme: Sunday 17th August

7.30am Gates Open – Signposted from Kopuku Road – Start / Finish / Pits at Forest HQ

8.00am to 9.00am Registration & Scrutineering

8.00am to 9.30am Qualifying Sprints for Race 1

9.45am Drivers Briefing

10.15am Race 1 Start

Race 2 Start is 1 hour after Race 1 finishes

Kiwi Truck Race held between race 1 and Race 2

Prizegiving on Completion of Race at the Race venue.

Entry Fee: The entry fee for the Peter Howell is $180.00. Kiwitruck entry fee is $25.00. Entries will be accepted on the day at $200.00 or $30.00 respectively.

Main Race Location: Signposted from Kopuku Road which is 3km past Maramarua Golf Course on SH 2. Start / Finish / Pits at Forest HQ.

Scrutineering: Please park as directed and register at AORC trailer taking your safety gear and your passenger safety gear for inspection. This gear includes race overalls, race helmet, neck brace, race boots and race gloves. Once you have registered and then had your safety gear inspected you are able to proceed to scrutineering. You must take scrutineering form to scrutineering. To streamline the qualifying sprints process, please proceed directly from scrutineering to queue for sprint (i.e. take or wear all your gear to scrutineering).

Qualifying Sprints: Once you have completed scrutineering please proceed to queue for the qualifying sprint. You will undergo a belt, neck brace and helmet check, and be briefed on the qualifying lap.

Fuelling: Fuelling must be completed in the pit area only. There is a designated fuel bay inside the entry to the pits monitored by the Fire Brigade.

Gate Entry: Competitors and crew towing a race car will be given free entry. Spectators (anyone not towing a race vehicle) will be charged $10 per car.

Food: BBQ Sausage Sizzle by Nicole & Shane Wilson with all proceeds going towards KidsCan Charity and food will include sausages, bacon & egg rolls, cold drinks etc

Race Car Pit Parking: On arrival please obey the signs and the parking marshal.

Driver Briefing: This will be held at 9.45am. All drivers must attend.

Grid Line Up:

Race 1 start is at 10.15am – the grid positions will be available at the conclusion of the drivers briefing.

Race 2 will commence 1 hour after Race 1 is completed – the grid positions will be determined by the finishing order of the first race.

Race Start: The green flag will drop at 11.00am. It is your responsibility to be on the grid and ready.

Kiwitruck Race: A Kiwitruck race will be held between Race 1 and Race 2 and will consist of a 30 minute enduro race held in the quarry.

Forest Check Out: Once your race vehicle and crew are back in the pits please head to Race Control to check out and collect your log book. This is for safety to ensure nobody is left in the forest.
